Way-Fil is a combination of the orignal owners names, Wayne Hunter and Filmore McGuire. Back in the summer of 1948, these two Mississippi State University grads decided that since they had been keeping the books of a jewelry store, they had the inside track to start one of their own. Wayne's wife Margie came up with Way-Fil.
Today Way-Fil Jewelry is owned by Patti Thompson. She is a Certified Bench Jeweler (Jewelers of America) a Graduate Gemologist (GIA), a Certified Gemologist (American Gem Society) and a Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (International Society of Appraisers) with a speciality in Antique and Period Jewelry. Patti handles jewelry design, jewelry repair, and appraisals.
JoAnn McCollum joined Way-Fil in 1990 to 1994. She left to raise her daughter Ashley, then returned in 1999. She is know as "JoAnn The Jeweler" in our tv commercials. She works magic with gemstones, jewelry repair and design. Keeping ths store organized and decorated is her super talent and one she really enjoys.
Lynne Creson came to Way-Fil in 1994 just to fill in for the holidays after JoAnn left and she's been the anchor that holds the chaos together ever since. She applies her sewing skills to our pearl restringing and Add-A-Pearls to create art for your neck! Lynne also handles the day to day operation of the store. If you need to know the status of your repair or anything that goes on at Way-Fil Jewelry, just ask Lynne!
